Haaland is now just three goals away from becoming Norway’s all-time top goalscorer as he chases Jorgen Juve’s record of 33. With the win, Norway secured their first win of the year. Although he will not take part in the European Championships where they did not qualify in Group A where they are 6 points behind Scotland, the Manchester City striker had something to cheer about in Oslo having scored 30 goals in 32 international appearances.
The first goal came after 15 minutes when Haaland headed home David Moller Wolff’s cross.
It was the first time Haaland had found the net for his country since a 4-0 win over Cyprus last October.
The team of Stala Solbakken had to be patient so that the second goal did not arrive until the 70th minute. Haaland finished off a quick counter-attack after Antonio Nussa broke the rhythm before finding the Premier League Golden Boot winner, who did the rest.
Five minutes later Haaland celebrated his third hat-trick for his country – and the 22nd of his career – by tapping into an empty net after a tidy play with Aaron Donnum.
