KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian journalists took the opportunity to ask Selangor coach Nidzam Jamil about updates on Faisal Halim’s recovery earlier this week.
The Red Giants are currently competing in the RCTI Premium Sports four-club tournament in Jakarta.
The Indonesian journalists expressed their concern for Faisal’s well being, and Nidzam told them that his condition is improving.
“His health is improving. He is now out of hospital and resting with his family, but still undergoing treatment,” said Nidzam recently.
“This incident was shocking and investigations are ongoing. In the football community across Southeast Asia, we stand united against violence in sports.
“I sincerely hope this is the last such incident in our region. We continue to provide him with both mental and physical support to ensure his recovery within the next four to five months.”
Faisal became the victim of an acid attack at a shopping mall in Damansara on May 5. He sustained serious burns and has since undergone multiple operations.
His recovery is expected to take up to six months.
Faisal has received messages of support from across the globe including from Borussia Dortmund as well as players from Manchester United.
Selangor had edged Sabah 3-2 in the RCTI Premium Sports tournament on Thursday.
Selangor will face Persija Jakarta in the final tomorrow while Sabah will play PSIS Semarang in the third-place playoff. The tournament offers a US$30,000 (RM140,000) prize purse.
