Gareth Southgate has announced his final England squad for Euro 2024, with Jack Grealish, James Maddison and Harry Maguire missing out. Instead of 33 players, which was the original decision, 26 were selected. Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and Liverpool defender Jarrell Quans were also left out of the squad ahead of the final selection.
Maguire said he was “totally exhausted” and his fitness was the initial concern after missing the latter stages of Manchester United’s season with a calf injury.
England play Iceland in a friendly on June 7, before kicking off their Euro 2024 game against Serbia on June 16.
