Does Scotland suffer because Gordon and Souttar are ruled out of Euro 2024?

Jun 08, 2024

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon and defender John Southart have been left out of Scotland’s final Euro 2024 squad.

Both have had injury problems from 2022 to present, which has reduced their performance in the last two years.

Head coach Steve Clarke had to cut his squad from 28 to 26 for the tournament after Friday’s home game with Finland.

Clarke lost Aaron Hickey, Nathan Patterson and Lewis Ferguson to injury before putting together his provisional squad.

Clarke confirms that both discussions with Gordon and Sautara were “difficult and emotional” and the decision was in line with their performances over the past two years.
