As Bayern Munich look to find Thomas Tuchel’s replacement this summer, they seem to have hit yet another dead end, this time with Hansi Flick.
WHAT HAPPENED?
After multiple rejections from the likes of Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick, Bayern turned to the former coach, who led them to the sextuple. All seemed to hint towards Flick succeeding Tuchel at Allianz Arena, however, reports from Kicker [via Spox], suggest that the Bavarian club are no longer interested in the services of Flick.
THE EXPLANATION
As per the report, Bayern are unsure if Flick will be able to instil the same kind of daredevil mindset into his players as he had done during his earlier stint with the Bavarians. The top brass are also unhappy with the kind of image Flick had drawn of himself as Germany’s coach in the 2022 World Cup documentary ‘All or Nothing: The German National Team in Qatar’.
DID YOU KNOW?
As per reports, Flick is interested in taking up the soon-to-be vacant spot as Bayern manager and the two parties had even held talks earlier. It was also reported that if Flick took over this summer, Germany legend Miroslav Klose and former Munich goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic would join him in the dugout as assistant coaches.
WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN?
If the club reject the signing of Flick this summer, they will yet again have to resume their search for a new name to take over at the club. Names like Erik ten Hag and Roberto De Zerbi have been mentioned earlier, however, it is unclear how advanced those talks have been, if any have taken place.
