May 28, 2024

Antony Martial has announced that he will leave Manchester United this summer, nine years after he joined from Monaco. The 28-year-old made 317 appearances for the club and scored 90 goals during his time at Old Trafford. “After nine incredible years, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career,” the Frenchman wrote in a post on social media on Monday.

Anthony Martial has confirmed that he will leave Manchester United this summer after nine years at Old Trafford.
The forward made his last appearance for the club in a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth in December 2023 and took to social media to announce his departure on Monday.
He wrote: “Dear Manchester United fans. It’s with great emotion that I write to you today to say goodbye. After nine incredible years at the club, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career.

“Since I arrived in 2015, I have had the immense honour of wearing this shirt and playing in front of you, the best supporters in the world. You have been an unwavering support, through the good times and the difficult. Your passion and loyalty have been a constant source of motivation for me.
“I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me. Your songs, your encouragement and your love for the club are memories that will remain engraved in my heart forever.
“Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you. I’m leaving to take on new challenges, I’ll always be a Red Devil and I’ll continue to follow the club’s results with passion.”

Martial, 28, joined Man Utd from Monaco in 2015 for a record-breaking deal worth up to £58 million, which made him the sport’s most expensive teenager.
During his time at the club, he has won the FA Cup, the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup.
Shortly after his move to Old Trafford, Martial made his debut for the France national team under Didier Deschamps and has earned 30 caps since, scoring twice.
Martial hit the ground running in Manchester and came off the bench to score in a 3-1 victory against Liverpool on his debut, before netting a brace in his first Premier League start in a win at Southampton a week later.

The Frenchman finished his debut season in 2015/16 as the club’s top goalscorer, with 17 goals in all competitions.
Martial has gone on to represent Man Utd 317 times, has scored 90 goals and registered 47 assists.
He enjoyed his best goalscoring campaign during the 2019/20 season when he scored 23 times – which included his first senior hat-trick – with 17 of those strikes coming in the league.
Martial suffered a knee injury in March 2021 which kept him sidelined until the following season. He struggled for game time on his return due to continuous fitness issues which resulted in a six-month loan move to Sevilla in 2022.
He has played just 48 times for United in the last two seasons, mostly coming off the bench, and was limited to just 629 minutes under Erik ten Hag during the 2023/24 season.
