Kylian Mbappe: Real Madrid star relishing debut season after winning UEFA Super Cup on debut – ‘I have no limit’

Aug 15, 2024

Kylian Mbappe could not have asked for a better start to his Real Madrid career after scoring a crucial goal to lift a major trophy on his full debut for the club. The French superstar helped the reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League holders win the UEFA Super Cup after a dominant second-half performance against Atalanta on Wednesday. Mbappe says this is just the beginning.

Kylian Mbappe said he had “no limits” after helping Real Madrid lift the UEFA Super Cup with a 2-0 win over Atalanta on Wednesday night.
The French superstar made his debut for Los Blancos and got off to a flying start when he scored his second goal of the night after Federico Valverde had put the Spaniards in front.
The UEFA Champions League holders looked in ominous form in the second half with Vinicius Junior, Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Rodrigo linking up well to pose a constant threat.

After the match, Mbappe was asked if reaching 50 goals for the campaign was a realistic goal and told Movistar: “We are at Real Madrid, we have no limits, I have no limits.
“If I can score 50 goals, that’s 50. But the most important thing is that we win and progress as a team, because we will win as a team.”
Mbappe joined La Liga giants Paris Saint-Germain for free this summer to end one of the longest transfer sagas of the modern era.
The forward missed the club’s pre-season tour of the United States after recovering from a broken nose suffered at the Euros this summer.
However, Mbappe looked in far better shape than he did for France during the international tournament and was delighted to score and lift the trophy on his full debut.
“A great night,” added Mbappe. “I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, to play in this jersey, with this badge, for these fans.” It’s a big moment for me.

“Winning trophies is very important, we know that [in Madrid] we always have to win.” I’m very happy, certainly for the goal, for a striker like me, to be decisive in my first game, but more importantly it’s a pleasure to play.”
Bellingham, who won the MVP award for his performance against Atalanta, set up Mbappe for his first goal in Madrid and detailed how the France international has already influenced his new team-mates.

“Amazing. You know. I used to think he was amazing,” Bellingham explained.
“And now I have the opportunity to play with him.” See the details a little closer. Speed, quality.
“Working without the ball, the way he is as a leader, he communicates. And I can’t say enough about him. It’s a big step for him. Obviously, people have been talking about him coming here for a long time.
“And, you know, I feel like it’s been around for a while. He settled in immediately. It’s a great team in that sense. It’s a great dressing room to welcome the players. And yes, we will do the same with him. and I’m sure they’ll give us more awards like tonight.”
Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was also full of praise for his new signing after the match, telling reporters: “Mbappe played very well. He was very helpful and scored a goal in his first game with the team.
“He worked well with the rest of the team.” He linked up well with the other forwards. It was a good debut for him.”
Mbappe could make his La Liga debut on Sunday when Madrid begin their title defense with a trip to Mallorca.
