Hungary striker Barnabas Varga is “stable” in hospital after being carried off the pitch following a collision in Sunday’s Euro 2024 match with Scotland, the Hungarian Football Association has confirmed. In a later post on social media, Varga’s club Ferencvaros said the forward had suffered multiple broken bones and would “most likely” undergo surgery.
The Hungarian national team gathered in support of their teammate, immediately requesting medical assistance and helping to bring the stretcher onto the field.
Varga Barnabas suffered several facial bones broken during the collision, and he also suffered a concussion,” Ferencvaros posted on social media, reposting an update from the Hungarian Football Federation’s account.
“He will most likely be operated on.” He spends the night in a hospital in Stuttgart.
