Mikel Arteta says he was pleased with how his Arsenal side responded to going 2-1 down in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich. The first leg finished as a 2-2 draw with Leandro Trossard scoring a 76th-minute equaliser to ensure the tie would be level heading into the second leg at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Wednesday evening – live on TNT Sports and discovery+. Arteta says it is “half-time” in the tie and was impressed with the mentality his players showed to get back into the tie after going a goal down. “I really liked the way the team reacted when it went 1-2,” he told TNT Sports. “That’s when you can throw your toys and lose the discipline and throw the tie away and we didn’t do it. “Emotionally we were really stable and we waited for our moment, scored a great goal and we were in the game right until the very end to try and win it. “It leaves the tie in a much better position. Everything is still to play for, it’s half-time. “A great scenario. A great stadium against a team with huge history here and an opportunity for us to make our own.” I feel it for the last 10 months since we went to pre-season and went to LA and we talked about what we could see happening in the season,” he said “We could see how much they’re growing and how much they want it. “Individual performances big time,” he said. “Obviously the team has to have the cohesion and competitive edge to go through moments. When you have the moments, take them. “You have to be at your best individually to deserve the best chance to win it.”
