The French Football Federation has announced that a mask will be made for their captain, but it is not yet known whether he will play against the Netherlands on Friday.
The 25-year-old forward was forced off during Monday’s 1-0 win over Austria after head-butting opponent Kevin Danso’s shoulder during an aerial follow-up.
He was transferred to a hospital in Dusseldorf where the break was confirmed.
“He has returned to the base camp of the French team,” the FFF announced.
“He will undergo treatment in the coming days, without emergency surgery.”
After the collision, France wanted to replace Mbappe with Olivier Giroud, but the game restarted without them being allowed to make a change.
