Čović: “We have the best coach, he leads with 6:0”

May 23, 2024

The president of Crvena zvezda Nebojsa Čović spoke about current events in the club and the recent title in the ABA league.

Čović was a guest on RTS’s “Morning Program”, where he summarized his impressions after winning the trophy in the ABA League.

He pointed out that this was one of the most difficult seasons.

“Even though we had one of the most difficult seasons, with various types and technologies of attack against us, I think that with a convincing victory over Partizan, we sent all the ‘haters’ where they belong – into the holes,” Čović began, and then added:

“I congratulate the coaching staff and our head coach, the extraordinary Janis, as well as the players for their fanatical concentration. I congratulate the players because they withstood all the attacks. They were instrumentalized and paid attacks from the opposite side. We endured everything and our concept won. That’s the concept local players, and then I joked and said ‘let’s buy local.’ were outstanding,” said the president of Crvena zvezda.

“We have made an important step forward. Now we have the domestic championship waiting for us and I believe that we will get a result there as well. It is a little less important, but every trophy is important to us. We want to be the champions of our country. With the trophy in the ABA league, we have guaranteed our performance in the Euroleague one hundred percent . This is one of the sweetest titles for me. Some call it a ‘broom’.”

He apostrophized Sferopoulos’ success and the sixth victory in a row against Partizan.

“If we had a budget like some other club in the last three seasons, and even a coach like they have and what they call him, I think we would have won at least one Euroleague… We actually have the best coach, he leads 6:0. That speaks of the characteristics of certain administrations. Sport is something that should be asked by officially educated and competent people, not some with bought diplomas and rigged money,” concluded the first man of the ABA league for RTS.
