Borussia Dortmund will propose an extension of Jadon Sancho’s loan deal from Manchester United to keep him for at least another season, while there are concerns over Thomas Tuchel’s attitude should he be appointed to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Nacho Fernandez may leave Real Madrid for Major League Soccer, and Tottenham could sell Richarlison to raise cash.
The Sun reports that Jadon Sancho does not want to continue his career at Manchester United next season.
Instead, Borussia Dortmund hope to re-sign the winger on loan for another season, before potentially landing a permanent deal in 2025. The paper explains: “Jadon Sancho has no plans to return to Manchester United once his loan deal at Borussia Dortmund expires next month.
“And the Champions League semi-finalists are ready to open talks with the Red Devils about extending his stay in Germany.
“Dortmund know they are unlikely to be able to afford the price tag for a permanent deal for the 24-year-old this summer.
“So they plan to ask about the possibility of signing him for another year – with an option or obligation to buy at the end of the 2024/5 campaign.
“United paid £73 million to sign Sancho from the German giants in summer 2021 but he never lived up to that price tag.”
Thomas Tuchel still looks likely to leave Bayern Munich, but there are concerns at Manchester United over appointing him.
Should he replace Erik ten Hag, some at Old Trafford are worried about his reputation for leaving clubs under a cloud.
The Mirror explains: “Figures at Manchester United have expressed concern over Thomas Tuchel potentially clashing with the club’s leadership if he’s appointed to replace Erik ten Hag.
“Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season, despite the German giants being one game away from the Champions League final. In February, with the Bundesliga title slipping away from the Bavarians’ grasp for the first time since 2012, Bayern announced that they’d reached an agreement with the former Chelsea boss to part ways, making him available this summer. “At Paris Saint-Germain, he clashed with sporting director Leonardo, who claimed that Tuchel disrespected the club prior to his dismissal in late 2020. The Chelsea job soon followed but after a change of ownership at Stamford Bridge, his trophy-laden spell ended in acrimonious fashion, never gelling with the new regime led by Todd Boehly.”
Nacho Fernandez will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, and he has found no offers in Europe convincing.
Instead, Marca reports, the captain will go Stateside to link up with an MLS team to start a new spell in his career.
The paper reports: “Nacho Fernandez has decided to end his time as a Real Madrid player on June 30, as reported by MARCA and he’s already chosen his next destination as he pursues his desire to embark on a new adventure by heading to the MLS.
“The captain of Los Blancos has left behind other offers with a more economic rewards as his continuity in the world of football goes through the North American league.
“As MARCA.com reported at the time, the idea has matured throughout the season and although during the previous year he moved very close to saying goodbye, on that occasion he changed his mind and continued for another season.
“Now nothing new has moved him as his destiny will be in the United States with the incentive of being captain, something that came with Karim Benzema’s farewell, has been more than fulfilled.
“Nacho Fernandez has decided to end his time as a Real Madrid player on June 30, as reported by MARCA and he’s already chosen his next destination as he pursues his desire to embark on a new adventure by heading to the MLS.”
Tottenham could be sacrificed by Tottenham as they look to raise funds for the coming transfer window.
The Brazilian has 10 league goals this season, and Ange Postecoglou wants to bring in new faces.
The Express states: “Richarlison could be central to a summer exodus at Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou prepares to revamp his squad following their stumbling finish to the season. Thursday’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea represented a third straight defeat for Spurs, leaving them up against it in their bid to catch fourth-placed Aston Villa and qualify for the Champions League next season.
“The 26-year-old is now a lead candidate to be sold at the end of the season with Postecoglou set to go into the market for a new striker. Richarlison, who switched from the Toffees in 2022 in a deal worth more than £50m, has already been linked to clubs in Saudi Arabia.
“And Postecoglou himself has ramped up speculation by candidly admitting he wanted to alter his squad this summer. ‘We need change. Change has to happen,’ he said, ahead of his side’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday.”
