ONLY THREE MAN UTD PLAYERS NOT FOR SALE THIS SUMMER

Apr 30, 2024

Tuesday’s paper round is dominated by reports from Manchester United, which claim the club will listen to offers for all but three of their first-team players. Marcus Rashford is therefore for sale, but Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to make an approach. Meanwhile, Erik ten Haag wants Ajax back, while Liverpool should negotiate with Mohamed Salah at the end of the season.

BIG MAN UTD CULL

Kobi Mainu, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are the only Manchester United players who were out of bounds this summer, and the club is ready to listen to offers for the majority of their squad this summer, the Telegraph reports. United’s rebuild under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team is likely to see Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial leave as free agents at the end of the season, while Marcus Rashford’s future is also in doubt. The Telegraph adds: “Ratcliffe, incoming chief executive Omar Berrada and new technical director Jason Wilcox are all understood to be keeping an open mind to potential departures. Sources said they are aware of United’s need to be nimble and flexible in the market in their efforts to reshape the team in a challenging financial climate. “While the likes of Kobi Mainu, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hoylund – around whom United hope to build a highly successful squad for years to come – will be strictly off limits to potential suitors, it is believed the club are unwilling to narrow it down. their options elsewhere within the team. “This means that United could be willing to talk to interested parties, for example, in relation to Rashford, should any offers come in that require serious discussion.

UNLIKELY RASHFORD TO PSG

Following reports of a potential exodus to Manchester United, and reports that Paris Saint-Germain will pursue other targets ahead of Rashford. With Kylian Mbappe set to join Real Madrid in the summer, PSG will be looking to replace the France captain, although Rashford is not on their shortlist. And he added: “Having previously been expected to come in with a big offer in the coming months, I understand the struggling striker is not part of the shortlist of ‘three or four’ strikers PSG are looking at, headed by Napoli Killer Victor Osimhen. “United insiders have insisted that Rashford is part of next season’s plans regardless, as they look to help him rebuild the form that saw him plunder 30 goals in all competitions last term. “However, given the need to raise funds for Ineos’ on-field transformation, it is believed that a significant bid for Rashford would be considered as part of a wider firing squad, something that has been planned since Sir Jim Ratcliffe got his foot under the table at Old Trafford. The money raised from any Rashford exit would be classed as 100 per cent profit in the eyes of the Financial Fair Play regulator, making any departure all the more attractive.

AJAX WANTS TO RETURN TO TEN HAGUE

Ajax will re-appoint Erik ten Haag this summer, according to the Daily Mail. Ten Haag’s future at Manchester United is unclear after the end of the season, but if he is sacked, then a return to Holland could follow. Ten Haag would not leave United for the Ajax role, so the Dutch club will wait to learn his fate before considering other options. The Mail adds: “There is a willingness by the Ajax board to see how Ten Hag’s future develops before deciding on his next move, with former Chelsea head coach Graham Potter and Nice boss Francesco Farioli among other desirable candidates. “Having transformed Ajax into one of the most exciting teams in European football ahead of his departure in 2022, the iconic Dutch club has struggled in the post-Hague era. “They are currently fifth in the Eredivisie, 35 points behind the leader PSV. They finished third last season, missing out on Champions League qualification, 13 points behind champions Feyenoord. “And the fact that Ajax is in the middle of a transition period is unlikely to please Ten Haag.

SALAH AND LIVERPOOL SET FOR TALKS

Liverpool will hold talks with Mohamad Salah at the end of the season amid multiple reports claiming the club expect the player to stay after the summer. Salah was the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia last year and it was thought the Egyptian could leave this summer while Liverpool could still receive a fee for the winger. Everything will be decided in the summer, when new sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Michael Edwards talk to several key players. The Telegraph adds: “A similar situation applies to skipper Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contractual situation is identical. “The immediate priority of the club was to replace Jurgen Klopp. Now that’s effectively done with the deal for Feyenoord’s Arne Slott, attention will shift to the older players. “Liverpool and Salah will have something to think about.
